Our 2nd tour of our holiday had us heading towards the coast. The weather varied between blue sky and heavy rain but it didn't spoil the day in any way. First stop was the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway and the views on the 7-mile journey are as good you will find on other steam railways, and I have been on a few. We then moved on to Wastwater. Surrounded by mountains including the Great Gable and Scafell Pike, this deepest lake in the district, is quite something to see. Muncaster Castle was next set in 70 acres. We got plenty of time for lunch and to see the castle and the grounds and take in a talk about the World Owl Centre housed within the castle grounds. A drive back through the countryside completed the day with plenty of stop-offs for photo opportunities. Throughout the day, our driver passed on his knowledge of the area and certainly knows his stuff.
